How to Point DNS to Your OSO Site

Follow these steps after your site is created. Your site admin will show the exact IP address and DNS records required.

1

Sign up and launch your site

Get started to create your OSO Site. Once generated, log into your customer portal and open Domain Settings to see your site's target IP address and required DNS records.

2

Log in to your domain registrar

Go to wherever you purchased your domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, Cloudflare, etc.) and open the DNS management or DNS zone editor for your domain.

3

Add an A record for your root domain

Create or update an A record for the root domain (@) pointing to the IP address shown in your OSO Site admin.

TypeA
Host / Name@
Value / Points toYour site IP (shown in admin)
TTLAutomatic or 3600
4

Add a CNAME for www

Create a CNAME record so www.yourdomain.com also resolves to your site.

TypeCNAME
Host / Namewww
Value / Points toyourdomain.com
TTLAutomatic or 3600

Some registrars use different labels (e.g. "Name" instead of "Host"). The record types and values are what matter.

5

Wait for DNS propagation

DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate worldwide. Most updates are visible within 1–4 hours.

6

Verify in your admin portal

Return to Domain Settings in your customer portal and run the DNS verification check. Once verified, SSL will be provisioned automatically.

Prefer not to manage DNS yourself?

Add Domain Management for $10/month and we'll handle DNS configuration, verification, and www setup on your behalf.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Remove conflicting A or CNAME records for the same hostname before adding new ones
  • Make sure you're editing DNS for the correct domain (not a subdomain unless intended)
  • Use the exact IP address shown in your site admin — it is specific to your OSO Site
  • If verification fails after 24 hours, contact us and we'll help diagnose the issue
